The occulomotor nerve is responsible for motor enervation of upper eyelid muscle, extraocular muscle and pupillary muscle. The optic nerve carries impulses for the sense of sight. We conclude that the deconvolution of the eCAP is a valuable addition to existing analyses, in particular as it reveals two separate firing components in the auditory nerve. The olfactory nerve carries impulses for the sense of smell. Differences between guinea pigs and humans were observed, among other parameters, in the width of the early component: very robust in guinea pig, and dependent on stimulation intensity and cochlear region in humans. Indirectly, this was observed in humans as well, assuming that the cochlear base exhibits more neural degeneration than the apex. The latency of the early component decreased with neural degeneration in the guinea pig. This ratio decreased with stimulation intensity in humans. The ratio of the scaling factors of the late and early component increased with neural degeneration in the guinea pig. For most eCAPs, the estimated nerve firing probability was bimodal and could be parameterised by two Gaussian distributions with an average latency difference of 0.4 ms. The same convolution model was applied on human eCAPs to examine similarities and ultimately to examine its clinical applicability. Kim et al assess whether cochlear nerve size as measured by parasagittal magnetic resonance imaging is correlated with auditory performance after cochlear. read more this study, guinea pigs with various degrees of nerve degeneration were used to directly relate firing properties to nerve histology. Using a convolution model of the eCAP, additional information about the neural firing properties can be obtained, which may provide relevant information about the health of the auditory nerve. The electrically evoked compound action potential (eCAP) is a routinely performed measure of the auditory nerve in cochlear implant users. Portland has two ISPs on our Best ISPs of 2022 list that offer plans that are the most suitable for multiple devices: CenturyLink and Xfinity. If one person is on video conference calls while another is playing online games, plus you have several smart devices running, go for plans with very high speeds to avoid lags. Tech-savvy homes with multiple devices running simultaneously should have an ISP that is fast and reliable. Which ISP is best for multiple devices in Portland? If members of your household rely on more devices and more advanced digital activity, consider plans with higher speeds of at least 25 MbpsĮxplore the different types of internet service. Two or three devices – including one that’s supporting a high-demand application like high-definition streaming, videoconferencing, or gaming – will likely need around 12 to 25 Mbps. Online shopping and text messaging apps require a lot less speed than video calls and multiplayer gaming.Īccording to the FCC, download speeds of 3 to 8 Mbps are sufficient for one to two devices being used simultaneously for basic functions, like web browsing and email. Then think about the various online activities in your home. To figure out how much speed you need, count the number of connected devices you have, including desktops, tablets, gaming consoles, and smart home gadgets. However, families with many devices running at once or streaming video will be better off with faster plans. Many households that use the internet for basic activities like web surfing can make do with most of the plans available, except for the lowest plans from Whiz To Coho and Warm Springs Telecom. In particular, he was regarded in the Romantic era as embodying the lone genius whose efforts to improve human existence could also result in tragedy: Mary Shelley, for instance, gave The Modern Prometheus as the subtitle to her novel Frankenstein (1818). In the Western classical tradition, Prometheus became a figure who represented human striving (particularly the quest for scientific knowledge) and the risk of overreaching or unintended consequences. He was a focus of religious activity mainly at Athens, where he was linked to Athena and Hephaestus, who were the Greek deities of creative skills and technology. Evidence of a cult to Prometheus himself is not widespread. In another myth, Prometheus establishes the form of animal sacrifice practiced in ancient Greek religion. In yet more symbolism, the struggle of Prometheus is located by some at Mount Elbrus or at Mount Kazbek, two volcanic promontories in the Caucasus Mountains beyond which for the ancient Greeks lay the realm of the barbarii. According to several major versions of the myth, most notably that of Hesiod, Prometheus was eventually freed by the hero Heracles. His liver would then grow back overnight, only to be eaten again the next day in an ongoing cycle. Prometheus was bound to a rock, and an eagle-the emblem of Zeus-was sent to eat his liver (in ancient Greece, the liver was thought to be the seat of human emotions). Zeus, king of the Olympian gods, condemned Prometheus to eternal torment for his transgression. The punishment of Prometheus for stealing fire from Olympus and giving it to humans is a subject of both ancient and modern culture. He is sometimes presented as the father of Deucalion, the hero of the flood story. Prometheus is known for his intelligence and for being a champion of mankind, and is also generally seen as the author of the human arts and sciences. In some versions of the myth, he is also credited with the creation of humanity from clay. Prometheus is best known for defying the Olympian gods by stealing fire from them and giving it to humanity in the form of technology, knowledge, and more generally, civilization. Plus, Three Days has the longest crescendo in rock history. But Ritual is also oddly compelling, sort of an art-rock tour de force, and some of the sing-song melodies and images in the lyrics – Farrell’s brother making him slap himself in the face, a girl shoplifting a razor by sticking it under her skirt – stick with you for far longer than you think they should. "It rambles, it’s murky, it features a long, vaguely Oriental violin solo. Two-thirds of the way through, Ritual De Lo Habitual starts sounding like a fourteen-hour layover in Kashmir, a long-distance runaround with only Juggs magazine and a pack of purple Bubblicious to pass the time." ( Rolling Stone (opens in new tab)) "The great bits here – gypsy fiddles, Aladdin Sane piano flurries, strange lyrics about crickets’ bones and an erotic Jesus – are overwhelmed by meandering vocal melodies, orchestral keyboards and David Navarro’s rote guitar wanking. While its predecessor, 1988's Nothing's Shocking, served as a fine introduction to the group, Ritual De Lo Habitual proved to be even more daring few (if any) alt-rock bands have composed a pair of epics that totalled nearly 20 minutes, let alone put them back to back for full dramatic effect." ( AllMusic (opens in new tab)) " Ritual De Lo Habitual served as Jane's Addiction's breakthrough to the mainstream in 1990 (going gold and reaching the Top 20), and remains one of rock's all-time sprawling masterpieces. ![]() Ritual became the first ‘alternative’ record to sell a million copies in the US, inspiring a generation of bands who would ultimately kill the idea of ‘alternative’ stone dead. ![]() Other bands would have left it there, but Ritual had more to give: the porcelain-delicate Then She Did… (inspired in part by Farrell’s mother, who died when he was three) the hypnotically slo-mo, klezmer-music inspired Of Course the sparkling Classic Girl. Three Days is the album’s glorious turning point, a shapeshifting, sexual/spiritual 10-minute meditation on the nature of life and death which stood as a tribute to by Farrell and Niccoli’s friend and sometime-lover Xiola Blue, who died of a heroin overdose in 1987 at the age of 18. It’s front-loaded with songs that are funny, feral and frantic: the limbs-akimbo energy of Stop, defiant outsider-punk call-to-arms Ain’t No Right, immortal breakout single Been Caught Stealing, with instantly recognisable dog-bark intro (courtesy of Farrell’s rescue pooch Annie) and promo video that perfectly encapsulated the chaos the world Jane’s Addiction inhabited.īut it was Ritual’s second half where Jane’s put clear water between themselves and their peers. I’m testing with a Jailbroken iPhone 5S running iOS12.4.3, with Frida installed from Cydia. Extracting TLS Keys and Decrypting iOS Trafficįrida describes itself as a “dynamic instrumentation toolkit”, it injects a JavaScript VM into applications and we can write JS code that runs in that VM and can inspect memory and processes, intercept functions, create our own native functions etc. To decrypt the packets we need the matching TLS keys, Chrome and Firefox will provide these when the SSLKEYLOGFILE environment variable is set but unfortunately there seems to be no equivalent for Safari.įortunately thanks to tools like Frida, we have the ability to implement it ourselves. ![]() I’ve filtered the capture to just display the traffic to and from But as the traffic is encrypted using TLS 1.2 we can’t see the contents of the packets. You should see a screen something like this: If they’re not already installed, install xcode’s command line tools:.You can find more details in this article from Apple but the basic process is: This mirrors the network traffic from the device to a virtual interface in MacOS and from there the traffic can be captured using tools like tcpdump and Wireshark. Capturing iOS network trafficĪpple support capturing iOS device network traffic via a Remote Virtual Interface (RVI). In this post I walk through how I capture iOS apptraffic using tcpdump, and how I use a Frida script to extract the TLS keys during the capture so that I can decrypt the traffic too. Safari and iOS doesn’t have this feature natively, and proxies like Charles only communicate to the browser via HTTP/1.x so I needed to find another solution. One challenge with analysing HTTP/2 traffic is that it’s encrypted and while Chrome and Firefox support logging TLS keys and tools like Wireshark can then decrypt the traffic. Sometimes I can use the tools built into browsers, other times proxies, but when I want to take a deeper look and particularly if I’m looking at how a browser is using HTTP/2, I rely on packet captures. I often want to examine the web traffic generated by browsers, and other apps. ![]() One world gives the impression that you're in a forest there's a green background filled with trees, you roll on green tiles, and trees are the most common obstacles you have to evade. It's hard to pin down how to describe Rolling Sky's look, which is really quite surreal, but one could say that it's very toy-like in a way. The ground is made up of panels that often shift and slide around, flashy beams of light are fired directly into the camera, brightly-colored hammers rhythmically pound the ground, and objects pop up as if there was some kind of clockwork mechanism at work in the background. Most things you see are distinctly cubic and blocky-looking, appearing as though they're made from some knockoff Lego product. Virtual environments are crafted from 3D visuals that, while simple in structure and design, are assembled in such an aesthetically-pleasing way. It helps that Rolling Sky is a very good-looking game. You may not be able to jump, sprint, fly, shoot fireballs or enjoy invincibility, but play Rolling Sky for a few minutes, and you won't notice. When you reach the end of a level, it really feels like an accomplishment. There's a great amount of trial-and-error involved, as crashing results in having to restart the level you're playing from the beginning, but as long as you learn from your mistakes, every failure is really just another step closer to victory. You need good reflexes, hand-eye coordination and memory to succeed. It may sound simplistic when compared to something like Temple Run, but there is indeed a simplistic beauty to Rolling Sky's gameplay. Finally, there are no power-ups to grab, and there's no store from which you can purchase upgrades. There's also no free jumping you can only move left and right. For one thing, it's not really endless every level has a set beginning, middle and end, with none of the usual randomization to be found. ![]() However, it eschews a lot of the tropes that go hand in hand with the genre as well. It abides to the basic conventions of the genre your avatar, represented as a simple sphere, automatically rolls forward, and with a few simple swipes, you weave your way back and forth past the many hazards obstructing your path. If Rolling Sky were to be classified as anything, the endless runner would be the safest bet. ![]() Testing conducted by Apple in February 2022 using pre-production iPhone SE (3rd generation) units and software and accessory Apple USB‑C Power Adapter (20W Model A2305).
